Origin of Versova Welfare Association

In order to give to the present generation a fair idea of the origin of the Association and the VWA High School, we may repeat here that the Association was formed on 24th July 1960 and after completion of all the formalities, VWA High School was started on 11th June 1962, a one-class school with 19 students on the roll. For effective and better management and development of the school the Association formed a separate trust by the name of Versova Education Trust and got it duly registered under the BPT Act on 21st February 1963. In the initial years the members of VWA actively worked for the development and expansion of the school.

Our Vision

VWA was established in 1961 when the families residing in the nearby localities of Versova, Mumbai had no schools, post office, proper public transport nor even grocery shops. The VWA was founded with the purpose of meeting these needs of the community and as such had set their goals very high. Inspired by the success of such endeavors VWA aims to work with utmost zeal to recognize and meet the growing basic needs of the underprivileged sections of the community be it in the field of education, medical facilities, food requirement, sanitation, clean environment and other related fields.

Our Mission

VWA is a premier association established in 1961 in Versova, Andheri Mumbai that is committed to providing educational, social and welfare needs of the underprivileged sections of the community.

Our history

VWA is guided by the principle of working towards providing a dignified way of living for the community especially the underprivileged sections and to this end the VWA members ensure that in all activities undertaken by the association care is taken to make the underprivileged sections of society feel that they too are an integral part of the society to which we all belong. The association believes that the weaker and most vulnerable sections of the society have a right to the basic needs just as others. The association aims to ensure that these needs are conferred on them with a sense of dignity. Our guiding principle which is as follows sums up the values we stand for and is also our logo: TOWARDS DIGNIFIED LIVING
